The Christmas Dress

Remember this picture from last year. Well, one of the beauties of having a child that grows so slowly is that clothes fit for quite awhile. So this christmas dress lasted two years so of course we had to take a couple more pictures.

Last Year
You may think that I took this picture while she was moving, but no this was how she posed when I said "say cheese".

Rarely do I get such a normal cute picture of my child and I just love it! Although I love all her faces, this is my favorite!

After I took a couple pictures of Addy, she wanted to take some of me. So I sat in front of the tree and said cheese when she told me to while she pretended to take pictures. Well Mitch came into the room and saw so he took a picture of the two of us. Not the greatest picture but that is okay, I still like it!

Every girl needs a pair of red high heals!

Thanks Chels! I might return them someday.

Merry Christmas!!!

My Little Chef

Notice what she is rolling out?

Frosted Flakes!
The other night while I was getting dinner ready, Addy pulled all this stuff out of the drawer got a bowl of frosted flakes and started smashing them with the rolling pin. I looked down and was completely surprised at what she was doing (apparently I was really focused on dinner!). It made me laugh because she had such great technique with using the rolling pin and was really good to make sure all the cereal stayed on the cutting board. I just left her and she smashed that cereal to little bits and then carried the cutting board over to the table and put it down and told me "Hot, Mom, Hot" just like when I tell her when I'm cooking! It was so funny that I wasn't even mad when it accidently tipped over and made a really big mess all over the floor!

Tis The Season

We have sure been busy in our house as I'm sure you all have this time of year. We've had lots of Christmas parties with friends and family, one of which we hosted at our house. It wasn't too extravagant; just a few neighbors, goodies, games and a white elephant exchange. Addy was so excited because she had dressed herself so we left her in this sweet outfit all night. She is really into changing her clothes multiple times a day!

One of the games we played, you had to roll the dice and then if you got a six you had to put on gloves and a scarf and then with two spoons try to open a small candy bar. It was quite humorous to say the least.

It was a fun night and thanks to everyone who came a brought such great gifts! I can't wait for next year :)

We've also spent lots of time outside shoveling snow! I should say Mitch has spent most of the time out in the cold, I've only gone out a couple of times to help. One day we got the whole family out helping and Addy loved playing in the snow. She would pick up a handful of snow off the ground and then put it on my shovel, it was such a great help!
Last Monday night, we put together a gingerbread village for FHE. Mitch and I frosted the pieces together and then Addy helped us decorate it. I love looking at it and seeing all her little clusters of candy of globs of frosting. It makes me happy :)

We've also been busy making christmas goodies and treats for our lovely neighbors and friends. We finished them all up on Sunday but didn't get them all passed out because it got kinda late. But just look at that plate of deliciousness! I love this family tradition even though it takes several days to make all the stuff and Addy sneaks little bits and makes a HUGE mess with the chocolate, it is still great to be altogether in the kitchen.

I also made these little rice heat packs for my YW. I thought they turned out pretty cute.

Amazingly, I still have more things to post but I think this is sufficient for now. Till next time.

The Tree is Up

Honestly, I've actually had my tree up for a couple of weeks. This was the first year I've ever put it up before Thanksgiving. It started snowing/blizzarding and it just looked like Christmas outside so when Mitch came home from work and offered to help, I jumped at the chance.

As you can see, the help didn't last too long!! But at least we were all in the same room!

Addisyn's Two Year Pic's

I was really happy once again with how her pictures turned out. I don't know about you but every time we go in for pictures, I just sort of expect the worst because you just never know what you'll get with kids. This time I did come prepared with treats in hopes that we could bribe her into a smile if need be but thankfully I didn't even have to use them until the very last couple of shots.

I'm sorry I couldn't get this one to straighten, so just tilt your head a little!

Of course we ordered way more than just the two of these, it is impossible to not walk out with a bunch of pictures! These two were just my favorites.

Disney on Ice

My lovely mom got the family tickets to go see Disney on Ice over the weekend down in Salt Lake. It was so fun and I am really glad we went and had a little girl to dress up! I'm thinking this is going to become a new family tradition because Addy loved it- at least for her attention span she loved it :)

Turns out I was really bad at remembering to take pictures throughout the show so we just have a lot from Peter Pan, which was my favorite anyway, and it was at the end of the show.

While these pirates were dancing/skating, Addy was standing in her chair stomping her feet and turning around trying to copy what they were doing. It was very cute!

I love how they did the crocodile really big. They did the same thing with Ursula from the Little Mermaid but sadly I forgot to take pictures of that.

They also did parts from Lilo and Stitch. I really need to re-watch that movie because there was lots of stuff I didn't remember (like all of it).

They started the show with the Lion King which was also pretty cool. This picture is really bad but it is the only one I have. I can't even imagine having to skate with those costumes on. How do they even see? Just look at Pumba...really skating on all fours...impressive.
Addy's ultimate favorite of the night...
Mickey and Minnie Mouse!! Probably because those were the only one's she really knew from her cartoons. Thank you Disney Channel! Also the dog in Peter Pan, he kept her distracted from flicking snow cone on the people in front of us for awhile!

More Halloween Fun

For those who don't know, I LOVE Halloween. It is one of my favorite holidays and it was even more so this year because Addy was finally old enough to take around and enjoy some fun activities.

One such activity was the city trunk or treat at the local gym. It was so fun because they had lots of different booths and activities set up for the kids. Addy got her fingernails painted (which she sat amazingly still for-I couldn't believe it!) , went fishing for prizes, got her picture taken, did the cake walk and got lots of candy.

We also went to Boo at the Zoo. I didn't get very many pictures because it was packed and I was by myself with Addy but it was still lots of fun to see the zoo with all the lights and halloween decorations.

They even had a straw maze for the little kids and Addy led us all the way through without getting lost!

On Saturday, we carved pumpkins with some friends in the afternoon. We kinda waited a little late getting one of our pumpkins so they only had really big ones left at the store and I broke three carving knives while creating my Frankenstein.

Later we got all dressed up and went to our neighborhood trunk or treat. Everyone loved our costumes accept a few little kids that didn't even want candy from me, they just quickly walked past and didn't even want to look at me!

Once it got dark, we took Addy around to a couple of houses in the neighborhood. I was amazed at how many houses had their lights off, things are way different from when I was a kid. It was still fun and I'm already thinking of fun costume ideas for next year :)

Happy Halloween everyone! I hope you are still enjoying the candy as much as we are!!

Annual Halloween Party

It is that time of year again and as you can see,
we went all out!

I had so much fun sewing and putting these costumes together. There were a few stressful moments especially when my dress ended up being ginormous on me, but I kept telling myself they were just costumes so it really didn't matter how they fit or if they turned out perfectly. Thankfully, my mom came to the rescue Saturday afternoon and fixed mine so it fit much better.

As you can see, Mitch acted his character perfectly! I tried to be an onery queen but all i said was 'off with your head' lots but I just sounded wierd.

The Cox Crew

My favorites were the Avatar, Medusa and the little Princess!

The Anderson Gang

Obviously, we were my favorite but let's be honest, we all look great!

The biggest surprise of the night was my dad. Normally, he doesn't dress up so that those who don't come in a costume 'don't feel bad' at least that is what he always said. Well this year, he really shocked us when he had two costumes! We all got a good laugh with his Scottish man.

Donuts on a String

This is also a great tradition. We always break up into kids, men and women. I even put a donut on a string for Addy but she was very hesitant to eat it! It really made me laugh because she just stood there looking at everyone else. By the time she finally took a bite, someone else had already won so I just took the string off and gave her the donut and she downed it!

The best part of the whole night was that we won the
Best Costume Trophy!!

Okay it wasn't really the best part of the night and it might have had something to do with the fact that Mitch told everyone I would go home in tears if we didn't win- which wasn't true- but we still won!
