School!

Once again I am completely behind on this blog and maybe one day I will get caught up but I doubt it. So let's just start from now and hopefully one day I will fill in the holes.

Can you believe this girl started Kindergarten!?
Yesterday!
It was quite the day. She is in the afternoon class so I tried to keep her busy all morning. With all the excitement, she was completely ready, with her jobs done, by like 9:30.  I showed her on the clock what time we'd get lunch and that we'd leave after that.  So she went out front to ride her bike and every five minutes she was inside checking the clock!

One benefit of school is that she actually lets me fix her hair! Hopefully that continues for the whole year.

We ended up eating lunch in like 5 minutes because she just wasn't hungry (too excited). So I told her we could leave right then and walk or wait 10 more minutes and I would drive her.  She choose to leave right then.  It was so fun to watch her skip the whole way to school. It is definitely a memory I won't forget.
As we got closer to the school, we ran into one of Addy's friend and they both ran to the front of the school and we found them sitting on the bench waiting. Sadly, they aren't in the same class but they will still get to ride the bus home together.

Of course we get in her classroom and she no longer needs me.  She is so independent and not afraid of new things which is awesome and sad for me all at the same time.

My favorite part was watching her come home from school with a smile on her face. And then to hear all about it.  My mother inlaw once told me that she made sure she was always home when the kids got home from school cause she could always tell how their day went within those five minutes of them being home.  It really is the truth because I got all the details and by the time Mitch got home, the excitement was gone and he got very little recap.  It reminded me of just how lucky I am to be able to stay home with my beautiful kids!!
2nd day of school

She is growing up too fast.
Last night, we also had a little back to school feast. I printed out a few little school name cards and napkin rings.  Then we also talked about our family motto for the school year which is Kindness begins with ME.  Hopefully it will be a good reminder for all of us in the family to remember to show kindness in all that we do.

Celebrate Youth

We had another successful year at the Celebrate Youth activity.  I took zero pictures of poor Brayden who was for the most part stuck in the stroller. But I did capture a few of Addy enjoying her last day of summer vacation.

She was even brave enough to try the climbing wall this year.  So I was patient enough to stand in the forever long line with her even though it was really hot.

Can you see her?

On the trolley. I wasn't coordinated enough to get brayden in with us with out dropping my phone and him.
Getting her hair fixed up.

It was a very fun and exhausting afternoon.
How did I get Brayden to stay in the stroller?
(I know some of you are wondering that)
I let him eat a creamy all by himself.
He was covered from head to toe in sticky chocolate popsicle but at least he was happy!

Boo

Turns out we have a ghost living in our house!

Awhile back Addy would want to surprise me by picking up the toys or putting her clothes away. She would always say "don't look mom" so I'd make myself busy with something and she'd do her nice thing and then tell me to look. I'd pretend to be scared thinking there was a ghost in our house. Well one day she found my stash of left over fabric in the closet and came up as a real ghost. She'd even cut out the holes for her eyes. It was so random and put a smile on my house.

Winter clothes already

All bundled up and it is only September!
Someone wasn't too happy about it and I couldn't blame him.
Either was I.
Not ready for the cold.

Super-baby!

He really is a super-duper baby.  I am amazed at how well he handles his older sisters craziness. She is pretty silly most of the time and he just loves to watch everything she does.

Birthday Time

Well, we know have a grown up five year old at our house.  I just have to say that so far this fifth year has started out great!  The other day I asked her to do something for me and she said, "I know mom, I'm five so I can do it."  WOW...big change and one I am grateful for!
The best part of the day was she was looking in the bathroom mirror and said, "I don't look 5, I still look the same."  So I asked her what she thought would be different and she thought she would be lots taller.
The saddest part of the day was when she thought she would be starting kindergarten soon because she was now five.  That was a hard blow when I explained she wouldn't start till next year.
The night before when I went into her room to give goodnight kisses, she asked me if I was going to decorate the house like last year.  She even remembered the streamers that she'd walked through.  Apparently, this is now a yearly tradition!

The day or two before her birthday, she asked me to get her glow sticks, a treat and something else that I can't remember.  I figured I could follow through with two of the three items.

We let her open one present before dad goes to work so she has something to play with during the day. It was her very first tea set.  Right away she wanted to have a tea party so I told her she could invite a couple friends over. She spent the morning making invitations, deciding who she wanted to come over, and planning what food to eat. Seriously it was quite the ordeal.

And then the tea party began!

And these girls were so silly and fun.  They had me cracking up a few times.

Kissing their spoons...they thought they were hilarious!

Then Addy asked if we could play freeze dance.

She got some new lip gloss from one of her friends and they decided to cover the little man with it.

Then they decorated cupcakes.  A quick last minute decision since I still hadn't finished the birthday cake.

As soon as Mitch got home from work, she begged to open the rest of her presents.

New shirts.

Church shoes...with a heal!  She was in heaven with these.

And a big barbie...which is now her Marabelle doll.

Then we sacrificed and took her to McDonalds.
Followed by cake (which I hurried to finish) and ice cream.

We are so glad to have this little lady in our family!  She is so full of energy and I find myself truly exhausted most nights but we wouldn't have it any other way!
I hope you enjoy your 5th year of life! We love you!
