One of the big kids

It is so weird to have a so called 'big' kid.  I'm so used to her always being right around me all the time that this new stage of independence has been a bit of an adjustment for me.  She is all about doing things on her own (most of the time).  We live across the street from our church building which has these giant piles of snow from plowing the parking lot.  Addy likes to watch the older kids when they are out sledding and playing on the snow.  One day I put her snow stuff on while I was shoveling the driveway and after a little while of playing in the yard, she asked if she could go over and play at the church snow.  Which really isn't a big deal but for some reason it was just another reminder of how quickly she is growing up. Of course I couldn't let the moment pass without snapping a few pictures!

Mr. Snowman

We finally got enough wet snow to make a snowman!  It was such a cold windy day so we were really fast in rolling and stacking him.  Addy was sure proud and would check out the window every morning to make sure he was still standing.

Not Already

We got a really nice snow storm early this year which is good cause we haven't had much since.  Addy had preschool in the morning but once she got home, we put the snow stuff on and went out to play(or shovel for me).

It was so fun to watch her run up and down the sidewalk.  She would go a couple steps and then fall, then get back up and do it again.  Luckily she thought it was great fun!

Snowman making

I kept promising Addy that once it finally snowed we could go out and build a snowman.  Well, that day finally came last week.  We were getting ready to go to the library for story time and I opened the front door to start the car and realized it had been snowing and quite a lot.  So instead of going to the library in the snowstorm, we shoveled the driveway and then made a snowman...or three.

She was so good about rolling the snowballs and then I would help her stack them.

Here are our Daddy, Mommy and Addy snowmen.
Sadly, they only looked like this for about 30 minutes and then my neighbor drove past and the Daddy snowman fell down. We still blame her for his death. It just couldn't have been the great construction job we did! The next day the carrots had fallen out and someone with a lot of creativity took all the sticks and stuck them in the momma's head like crazy hair.  Then the day after that the little snowman got knocked over.

She wanted me to take one with her posing...notice the knee popped and the toe pointed.  I promise she didn't watch Miss America so I'm not sure where this came from.

Once we got too cold, we came inside and Addy continued with the snowman making by creating one out of marshmallows.  She was also in a pretty silly mood and did not want to show her face for the camera!

I just love her craziness.

Snow

Yep, that is right.
We've already had snow this year.
I really shouldn't be surprised because it happens every year.
But I was.
Just like every year.

So we stayed in our jammies all day because there really was no need to get ready. Then once it stopped I pulled out the winter coat and gloves and let Addy out to play.

At least someone in our house was having fun. Maybe next time I'll be a better mom and go out and play with her instead of just standing in the doorway. Just maybe,

Playing...

              ...in the SNOW!!!

This really shouldn't surprise me because I do live in Idaho; but still it is almost the noon hour, and we still have snow outside.
At least someone was happy for the two minutes she was out playing. Then she came inside saying, "it toe code". Hehe, I just love two year old talk!!

Snow Fun

While we were in Island Park, we took advantage of all the snow and went sledding a couple of times. The first day we just went down the driveway because there really wasn't a good place for a track. We eventually got a little bored of that and with the help of Mitch and Mike we built a nice jump. In order to get over it you had to be pushed half way down the drive because it wasn't very steep.

Addy loved being outside and she even went down a couple of times on her own. I just laid her on her back and like I said before it wasn't that steep so I just walked behind. The funniest part was just watching her walk because she was so bundled up.

The best part of the sledding trip was when the kids started making a track that was steeper but it went through the trees so you had to be really careful. If you didn't dive off at the end then you would run straight into a tree. Well, Mitch wanted to go down with me so I told him I would as long as he promised we wouldn't hit the tree. With two people you go a lot faster so all of a sudden we see the tree and he leans one way and I lean the other and smack- we run straight into the tree. Since I was the one in front I got a huge bruise on my leg and ended up completely wrapped around the tree. The best part was that it had snowed the night before so the trees had a fresh coat of snow and after we hit the tree, all the snow fell down on top of us. Everyone busted up laughing and thankfully we weren't hurt to badly.
