Our Trip to Utah

We sure had quite the fun time down in Utah. It was neat to have my brothers and sisters finally meet Addisyn and of course they loved her, who couldn't? My little niece Gracie was the cutest because she would walk around asking where the baby was and say, "my baby". She was also very helpful because one time my mom was asking if I needed to change her diaper and then a few minutes later in walks Gracie with the stuff to change her which is pretty good for a two year old who didn't get asked.

We had plenty of smiles and tears. It took a little adjusting to a new house without dad around, but by the end of the week she was doing a lot better.

Her first bath in the kitchen sink, doesn't she looks thrilled. Actually we really do love soaking in the warm water.

Mitch drove down Friday afternoon with my dad. Then Saturday we drove down to Provo to visit Elise and she was kind enough to find us tickets to the BYU game which thrilled Mitch! Addy slept pretty much the whole time. Even at the end of the game when the other team was trying to get a touchdown right in front of where we were sitting so everyone around us was going crazy, she didn't even flinch.

After the game we came back to my parents for our annual Halloween party but we were a little late because of traffic from the BYU game so we missed out on the donuts on a string and the costume contest. We still dressed up though and I know we would've won :) I guess we will have to wait for next year.

If you can't tell Addy is a tiger, I'm an elephant and Mitch is the zoo keeper. I love Halloween!

The whole gang accept us because we were late.

Somebody was very tired after this long day!

Fat man in a little suit...

Isn't there a song that goes like that?

If there is then the lyrics to this song would be "tiny girl in a big ol' coat".

I just love this little outfit because it is sooo huge but still just so cute on her. After a long night and morning with alot of tears and screams, which I'm still not sure why they were happening so I will just blame it on a new place (we are in Utah) with new smells and people, so after all that we were finally getting some cute little grins. I tried to get them on film but it was just really hard to get a good picture because when she gets happy and smiley she also gets really wiggly so the pictures come out really blurry. One day I will get a good one and post it because seriously it just melts your heart or at least mine and that makes all the tears and screams all worth it!

These are also to remind daddy of just how cute his little girl is! Sorry we had to leave you for the week but at least you got some good sleep last night!

Sunday at our house

First of all we wake up to this:

Ugh! Where did fall go?

Then Mitch heads off to meetings while the girls get ready. It is amazing at just how long it can sometimes take between baths, naps, eating, diaper changes, pictures (mom loves the camera) etc. I don't know how families with multiple kids get anywhere.

Then off to church we go.

Come home and I am really excited to try something new. I learned to never try a new recipe on fast sunday. This is what it looked like and really it didn't taste much better. Mitch finished a small bowl but I could only get down a few bites, the texture was just nasty. Needless to say, I am really glad we didn't invite any of the neighbors over for dinner!

Later we are still hungry so we decide to make something real healthy...cookies. We get started and soon realize we have no brown sugar. Oh well, we will just use a substitute, wait..we have no molasses for the substitute I guess we will just use white sugar. Continue making the dough and we run out of salt, vanilla, and butter (had to do half shortening). Finish mixing the dough, do a taste test and turns out they weren't so bad just a little different tasting but not too awful. Cook the cookies and they come out of the oven looking just like sugar cookies just with chocolate chips, I wonder why? We only made half the cookies we normally do and threw the rest of the dough in the trash. Then we went to bed hungry, I wasn't about to try anything else.

ADDY UPDATE:

Addisyn is now one month old and slept for just over 6 hours last night! Yippee. I really hope that it continues. She is just growing, growing and growing. She can now: follow sound with her eyes, recognizes both her mom and dad's voice, tries to focus on close faces and goes cross-eyed which freaks her dad out, can almost do the airplane on her belly, uses her legs A LOT more. I get kicked all the time and sometimes she will push up into the standing position and stay there for a few seconds before she collapses. I am sure there are tonz more things but those are the major ones. It is so much fun to watch her develop and see her little personality coming through more and more. I can't wait to see what will happen in month two! Hopefully more sleep!

Evening Walks

It is a fact, I love going on walks. Since this has been the only excerise I have been able to do for the past several months it has become a normal routine to finish dinner and then go on a walk around the neighborhood. At end of my pregnancy I was really struggling to get around the block without feeling like I was going to die and it would take me absolutely forever because I would just shuffle along.

Well after the baby was born, I was so looking forward to getting back into a regular workout but with the C-section, that still hasn't happened and it will still probably be awhile before I feel like running and such. So I am back to going on my regular walk and at first it was the same as when I was giantly prego but now I am finally getting around in almost the same amount of time as before and yesterday I even went around twice!

I love that I am starting to feel like my normal self again. The only sad part is that today the weather is soooo cold that I don't dare take the little one out. We've already been bundling her up and it was about 15 degrees warmer yesterday. I am really not ready for the cold weather of winter and feeling like you are trapped inside.

Happy Birthday Mitch!!!!

So today just so happens to be Mitch's birthday! Although we sort of already celebrated over the weekend with his family, I just wanted to say happy birthday on his actual day since I am sure he will look at this later while he is at work!

You are the greatest husband (and father) in the world, probably even the universe, and I am so glad that you are mine. I won't get to mushy seeing how other people will be reading this but I hope that you are having a fabulous day! I love you and can't wait to see you when you get home.

These are just a few pics from our party!

Wasn't this the coolest cake. This is how Mitch knows that I love him because I really hate to bake even when it is as simple as adding water and oil. I don't mind cooking but baking, blah. So every year I try to make a special cake just for him. This year I got an idea online and then when we were at the store getting the cake mix, there was a picture of the cake on the back of the box and I said, "Oh look that is the cake I am going to make you" totally ruined the surprise:(
It took awhile to light all the candles and so by the time we finished some of the paper cups from the cupcakes started on fire as well as an M and M. So this is a very dangerous cake unless you only have a few candles (not that you are that old honey)

Here is Addisyn, wishing her daddy a happy birthday as well!

Tummy Time

I love tummy time each day because it is so fun to see a tiny little baby growing and developing. It takes so much concentration and energy just to get her head up off the ground a couple of inches and yet there I sit/lay in front of her cheering her on as if she were on the olympic team! She will grunt and groan and maybe even cry a little but eventually that little head will ever so slightly lift up off the ground and then fall back down. After a few tries, we can actually lift ourself enough to look in front of us, usually at mom, and then we lay our head down facing the other direction. This is where the crowd goes wild and the little one really starts to let you know that she has had enough so we pick her up and give her lots of loves and just wait for the next time!

Still not quite sure what I am suppose to be doing.

One of our first few tries.

Yippee! We are just getting so strong!
