Celebrate Youth

We had another successful year at the Celebrate Youth activity.  I took zero pictures of poor Brayden who was for the most part stuck in the stroller. But I did capture a few of Addy enjoying her last day of summer vacation.

She was even brave enough to try the climbing wall this year.  So I was patient enough to stand in the forever long line with her even though it was really hot.

Can you see her?

On the trolley. I wasn't coordinated enough to get brayden in with us with out dropping my phone and him.
Getting her hair fixed up.

It was a very fun and exhausting afternoon.
How did I get Brayden to stay in the stroller?
(I know some of you are wondering that)
I let him eat a creamy all by himself.
He was covered from head to toe in sticky chocolate popsicle but at least he was happy!

Celebrate Youth

Every year the school district puts on 'celebrate youth' the day before school starts.  They set up lots of different booths and games for the kids sort of like a carnival but the best part is...it is free!  This was the first year we've gone and I thought we would only be there for a couple hours but Addy was having so much fun we stayed all afternoon.
As we were walking past this bull ride, I casually asked if she wanted to ride. I totally thought she would say 'no way' so it was a big shocker when she agreed.  The guy running the booth went pretty slow at first but she hung on so he sped up and after a couple seconds Mitch asked if she wanted off and she nodded yes.  So she jumped off and then started crying. Oh well. At least she was brave enough to try.

You got to love the half closed eyes while sleeping. Creepy.

And this is when I put the camera away but she also got her hair fixed by the Paul Mitchell girls, her face painted and played on lots of bouncy house toys.  We also got lots of free stuff like books, bags, toothbrushes and little toys!  I'm thinking we will now be regular attendees.

Splash Park

I have been wanting to bring Addy to the splash park all summer but it is always so crazy busy during the day.  One evening Mitch got home from work a little early so I planned an early dinner and then we headed over to the park.  It was still fairly busy but nothing compared to the afternoons. That also meant it wasn't as hot so this little girl was freezing after 5 minutes.  She was a trooper though and still wanted to play even though her lips were turning blue and her whole body was shaking and shivering.

Her favorite part was the yellow slide because she could dunk her head under at the bottom.

This little man just chilled in the shade.

She still has to close her eyes and walk up the stairs sideways because of the water splashing everywhere.

Dad even walked over and got us an ice cream to share.  Maybe he should've gotten some hot chocolate too!

Nacho Party

A couple weeks ago we had some friends over for a Nacho Libre party. Yes, call us weird but we LOVE that movie and some how we found others who love it too! The party really wasn't much but we did eat nacho's and dressed up in our stretchy pants while we watched the movie. I only remembered to take pictures before the guests arrived but I promise we were not alone in our craziness!
This is truly one crazy chick. This is just Addy being Addy. I did not tell her to stand like this, there was absolutely no prompting by her parents. When I said I wanted to take her picture, this is just the pose she struck and it was perfect and still makes me laugh.

Showing off her muscles.

Pretty cute cape I whipped out of my fabric scraps.

This might just be where most of Addy's craziness comes from! He decorated his own cape (I may have helped just a little with the sewing). The bottom says "for the little nino's".
Watch out world because these two make quite a pair.

Sadly, there are no photo's of myself (that may have been on purpose) but I was there with my cape and stretchy pants as well.

Puddle Fun

We have been having quite a few afternoon/evening thunderstorms lately. I love them. They have been great because they cool things down so the house doesn't ever get too hot plus I don't have to water my lawn quite as much! One of them was so close that the electricity in the air made our fire alarm beep really loud and the thunder was shaking the house so much that I thought pictures were going to fall off the wall!

Anyways a different storm dumped rain and left a big puddle in front of our neighbors house so Mitch and Addy ran out in the rainstorm to splash in it. I didn't want to get the camera (or myself for that matter) all wet so I huddled under the house and took some pictures.

I'm really not sure who had more fun, Addy or Mitch?

Sledding

We have already gotten so much snow this year that we are running out of places to put it!  Okay so really there is still plenty of places it could go but it seems like we just keep shoveling and shoveling.
Every now and then we have a nice warm sunny day, which I desperately need, and we can actually go outside and play.  This last Saturday ended up being one of those days.  We bundled up to go out and shovel and then stayed out to play because it was so nice.
I had Mitch put Addy up on the pile of snow in our front yard so I could get a picture, but it soon turned into a great sledding hill where you didn't even need a sled!

Mitch even made some little steps so Addy could climb back up to the top by herself. We were getting a little tired of putting her back up every time!

Up she goes...

then down she goes...

and then repeat over and over again...

And for a two year old, life just couldn't be any better :)
